Her number is nine, Her color is burgundy or purple, and Her metal is copper. Offerings to Oya include eggplants, coins, red wine, and cloth.
Her altar space in my home is decorated with red and white cloth. If you do not have her essence birthed for you (Oya's pot) then you can place a red candle, eggplants, and dry red beans on the altar also. I would reccomend a backet with twigs and stones from your area of town and an African Violet. When you want to energize yourself with her essence cook an eggplant that has been sliced into nine pieces sauteed in palm oil or peanut oil for three to five minutes and place it on your altar covered for nine days. as the food sits there spend time each day talking to Mama Oya about your desires to change your current situation or to calm problematic issues in life. Or if you have an area in your yard to place the adimu(offering) for nine days. You can do the same with a glass of red wine and rum or gin. Nature elements that speak to you especially after a storm should also be added to your Oya space. Try to find a picture of a buffalo and or an Oya image via the net also to add. A glass of water is a definite addition because it increases the energy of the Orisa as you sit and meditate with Oya or as you say Oriki's for her. I am sending you an Oriki in the inbox mail. I hope this helps you start as I will send you other info soon. I just wanted you to be able to have a beginning point.
